Core Workout Music

Core & More MixAccording to the folks at the Mayo Clinic, your workout routine should include five elements:

*Aerobic fitness
*Strength training
*Core exercises
*Balance training
*Flexibility and stretching

In spite of this, most workout music is geared toward that first element alone.

I’d love to think this site is an exception, but it’s probably not–as the majority of music featured here is uptempo and best-suited to an aerobic, running, or cardio routine.

To help diversify the offerings available here, I’ve put together–Core & More–a six mix set designed for strength and core exercises.

Drawing on recommendations from the American College of Sports Medicine, the set takes a single 30 minute workout mix and presents it at six different tempos:

60 BPM
70 BPM
80 BPM
90 BPM
100 BPM
110 BPM

Given this framework, the music will complement two main types of exercises:

*Those that build strength using equipment–like resistance bands, kettlebells, and weights.

*Those that build strength using gravity–like push-ups, sit-ups, and planks.

If core workouts are already a part of your routine, you already know how difficult it is to find workout music that matches. To that end, the virtue of these mixes should be straightforward. And, if you’re not already incorporating strength-oriented exercises, they might provide an impetus (and framework) to get started–as you can simply move in time with the beat.

In either case, if you test the mixes out–and they don’t complement your routine–I’ll issue a refund. (My contact info accompanies every order, so you can drop me a line anytime.)
